El tiempo que paso contigo - Iñigo Quintero, Besmaya
Song randomly discovered which resulted to be a grateful surprise. Definitely loving this young artist's style.
I started playing the saxophone at the age of six and studied at a conservatory from nine to eighteen. My early training was rooted in classical music, and during my teenage years, I had the opportunity to participate in various competitions and performances. One of the most memorable moments of my journey was playing as a soloist with a string orchestra on my eighteenth birthday. However, at that pivotal time, I faced a difficult decision: fully committing to a life centered around music or pursuing a deeper understanding of how life operates at the molecular level—how those intricate processes shape us as human beings and, more broadly, define life itself. As you might have guessed, I chose the latter. Music, however, remained an essential part of my life—first as a passion, and eventually, as a source of income. I began performing in street bands during festivals alongside truly incredible musicians, creating unforgettable moments for those who listened (and also to myself).
AM Sax is a project I started about a year and a half ago. After completing my saxophone studies, I often played at home and performed in various shows with military and street bands. However, I lacked a structured way to practice or, more broadly, a method to improve as a musician. That’s why I decided to create an Instagram account to share my saxophone covers with the world. The feedback from skilled musicians—many of whom I knew would be part of my audience—along with the opportunity to listen to myself critically, became my most valuable tools for growth.
The project was born out of a desire to enhance my skills as a player. However, instead of constantly pushing myself to
perform the most technically demanding pieces just to impress others, I focused on playing the music I truly enjoyed.
My repertoire is diverse, ranging from soft Spanish pop artists like Iñigo Quintero to pure jazz solos by some of my favorite saxophonists.
When covering songs with lyrics, I always strive to capture the essence and emotions of the music. I like to put it this way: the voice is the only instrument that can sing words,
but if you can convey the emotion of the vocals—without needing the lyrics—you’ve won the game.
That’s when you know you’ve done it right: when words become unnecessary.

Zac Zinger is another sax player I love, and the arrangement on Hello from Adam Neely is awesome. I had to give a try to Zac's solo on alto!
Solo transcription of Daehan Choi's amazing solo on this song.
Stevie Wonder's band version on Spain is one of my favourites. I remember being so happy when I managed to play this solo.
This is simply one of my favourite songs. The Maroon 5 of about a decade ago simply has something different.
I am not a soprano specialist at all, but sometimes I like to challenge myself. I remember listening to this song on Christmas of 2023 and falling in love with Zinger's soprano soud, so I decided to transcribe it an try to play it.
Haven't ever happened to you that you listen to a song when you are child and 10 years after you discover the name of the song? Okay, nowadays we have Shazam, but it has not been always there. Thing is when I rediscovered this song, I discovered that it had a juicy sax solo at the end, so it had to be in the AM Sax solos list.
Spotify playlists announcements on Instagram sometimes bring you good things. This is just an example of it. Perhaps too repetitive, but catchy
